E-bike battery testing and replacement
Tested under load before anything is quoted — a lot of "dead" batteries are not.
Batteries are the most expensive component on an electric bicycle and the one most often replaced unnecessarily.
The reason is that a battery which reads full can still collapse the moment you draw current from it. Resting voltage looks fine; capacity under load is what actually matters, and testing it takes minutes.
Why Dubai is harder on batteries
Lithium degrades with temperature as well as with cycles. A pack that would last years in a temperate climate ages considerably faster here — and worst of all if it is stored at a low state of charge through a summer, which is exactly what happens to a bike parked in May and rediscovered in October.
Storage location matters more than mileage. Indoors at around half charge is dramatically better than fully flat on a balcony, and it costs nothing.

When this is not the job you need
A repair business that only ever says "book it in" is not worth trusting on anything else. These are the cases where you should not.
- A battery that will not turn on is often a charger fault. Test that before buying a pack — it is a fraction of the cost.
- Reduced range after a summer standing is sometimes recoverable with a slow balance charge.
- If the frame or motor is failing too, a new battery is money into a bike that is finished.
Common questions
Why did my e-bike range drop so much?
Heat is the usual answer. Lithium degrades faster at sustained high temperature, and a pack left at low charge through a Dubai summer degrades fastest of all. Storage location matters more here than cycle count.
Can you test my battery before I buy a new one?
Yes, and we recommend it. We measure capacity under load rather than reading resting voltage, which is what actually tells you whether a pack is finished. A good number of the batteries we test do not need replacing.
How should I store an e-bike battery in summer?
Indoors, around half charge, never fully flat and never left on the charger for months. A pack left flat on a balcony through July is the single most reliable way to kill one.
